I can only talk about where I live in gorgeous Cornwall, and I find the best way to sell it is by SHOWING people what we have to offer.

England has something for everyone – no matter how strange the request may be: history, art, modernity, countryside, industry, sports, spas – and at all levels of expectations: exclusive, common, specific, weird and wonderful. It even makes a great object for social or psychological studies. If you want to understand how humans tick and what makes our civilisation, England is a MUST place to visit. It shows the hopes, desires, arrogance, failures, assumptions, love, joy, pain, justice and injustice of our world. It’s a great place to see where modern society has come from and where it may be going.
And if you just want to enjoy yourself, you can always escape to the clubs, bars and shops all over the country.

I am Spanish and I have visited England 31 times in the last 14 years. I really love this country and I am looking for the next time I will be able to go. In fact, I have studied English literature which I adore. England has so much to offer, not only London, Yorkshire, Northumbria, The Midlands or Cumbria offer to visitors amazing experiences. England is not worst than other country, just a little different from other continental countries with an amazing history, culture and all this, only can be understood when you are there. Last year in Loughborough (I was studying there) in oral comunication I describe a wonderful country to my British mates. They though I was talking about an imaginary country and all them felt shocked when at the end I revealed I was talking of Britain. No doubt, if I could not move there at least I would like to die in England or Britain, before a noble retirement. I am proud to admit that it is possible to fall in love with a country.
Do not miss the chance and just give to yourself an opportunity to discover something new … may be King Arthur’s cradle or a wondeful scenery in The Lake District. If you are looking for fun, just try Sheffield … so great! or just feel like Robin looking for Marian in Sherwood forest. To conclude, I could mention at least hundreds of things but as well as I did, it is better you discover the country. Meanwhile, I am waiting for my visit number 32. Good bless you all!

    Best feature:
English comedy and wit, no-one else comes close.

    Other saving grace(s) :
The english pub and rock/indy music is still the most cutting and gutsy, tho alot of US bands are challenging.

For culture, you’d be better off in Europe.
For weather, you’d be better of anywhere.
For sport and vibrancy, you’d be better off in a new-world country.

Of course the United Kingdom has a wonderful heritage, including it’s history,it’s inventors,it’s arts, writers and of course its beautiful countryside and villages.
But so too has almost every other country, particularly those in Europe. The United Kingdom should justly be proud of it’s history and heritage, but so do most other countries.
For every reason why a foreign tourist should visit the United Kingdom, there are many more reasons why they should not.
In a list of top ten countries to visit in the World, Britain would come last.
Of the top twenty cities in the world that you must see before you die, there would not be one in the United Kingdom which would deserve be included.
    One thinks of Venice,Rome,Barcelona,Paris,
Sydney etc etc,and there is not a city in Britain that comes anywhere near these other cities in the World.
There are many social reasons for not visiting the UK,and one can only offer generalities such as overpopulation,
congested roads, probably the worst public transport facilities in Europe. There are other identifiable traits within the population that a visitor would instantly find apparent such as over indulgence in materialism, anger and anxiety frustration, crime and most discernable would be a general intolerance of foreign visitors.
There is also a national trend towards pomposity,a feeling that Britain’s are the leaders in the world and they cannot accept learning lessons from other countries.
If one looks at Spain, fifty, even twenty five years ago it was considered a third world country, today it leads the United Kingdom in all levels of transport, modern air conditioned buses, the most advanced high speed railways in the world,
new road systems which have relatively little traffic being a joy to drive in a totally relaxed manner between destinations and meet relaxed and friendly people.
A good example,a simple one that Britain seems to ignore are overhead traffic signals used in the US and in most European countries. There is also a system for MOT’s where there are government operated test stations in locations across the country where you book in,your car is run through the most modern production line system, whilst you wait. The refuse collection system is another simple system that the UK could ‘copy’ where each urbanisation has a community collection site, the individual drops it off and the refuse collectors arrive at midnight, every night in the week except Sunday, and there is no surcharge. Are Britain’s so insular that they refuse to adapt such simple ideas from a country such as Spain ? I think so!
Other countries in Europe are equally proud of their national identity but they are also proud to be Europeans and benefit to the full from their membership. Alongside the National Flag is the Province (County) flag and the European blue and gold EU flag, all three are placed alongside each other on every public building and police station.
It is unfortunate that as Britain has now failed to be a world leader, they are unable to follow other nations good examples due to the insular nature of its leaders and people.
These are good ,but only a few examples of how foreign visitors see Britain today and why the United Kingdom is not a venue to encourage foreign tourists to visit
