I went to an international school on France for a year and so many people told me that they wanted to visit or live in the USA? Why is this?

why, because this is the best country in the world hands down
Not just Europeans that want to come and live in the USA but most ppl around the world want to come and stay forever here, but I know ppl are just crazy they soon realize once they are they are there and also finds out how easy and so called luxurious life is in USA.Probably very much lonely at the end of their life.
because it’s a beautiful country, trouble is!
it’s full of amerithingys!
I think a lot of it has to do with that old thing about the grass being greener on the other side of the fence.
Not that long ago, maybe 50 years ago, Europe was really in a bad way. They fought two big wars in the last century. After WWII all of Europe’s industrial capacity lay in smoking ruins and it took them 15-20 years to rebuild. So middle-aged people in France grew up in poverty, sometimes desperate poverty. My French teacher in high school was born in France and she told us when she was a girl they only got a glass of milk twice a week and a candy bar maybe once a month. America was seen as the Land of Opportunity in those days, because we were doing very well after WWII, it was the best time here.
We Americans like to whine about taxes but we are actually the lowest-taxed country on earth. If you heard of another country where people live about as well as the do here, but paid half the taxes, you’d think ‘Wow, I wanna live THERE!’ Of course they don’t realize that tens of millions of Americans can’t get access to health care, and that there are whole cities where you don’t dare go out of your house after dark, and other cities where the streets are littered with homeless people.
I live in California and years ago I drove across Canada. In eastern Canada (the Maritime Provinces) everyone who saw our license plates wanted to talk to us. They all asked us ‘What are you doing HERE! I wanna go THERE!’ In the east, California is kind of legendary. Someone even asked me if the Golden Gate Bridge was really made of gold! I bet, it’s just painted gold, right? 8^)
its a place to see not to live in.
Why not?
I for example like visiting the US.
(I would never want to live there but anyway i allways enjoy visiting).
Everyone of refinement wants to experience a bit of rough so to speak. I can see no other reason for that rather, *********** tendency. Personally, I had no such self destructive desires.
