Try your mums.
Ive only ever been skiing in Europe but I’ve heard Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley are good.
Look up any resort in the Tahoe area and check for their opening dates. I really doubt in mid-Nov. they would even be open.
For example, I just checked this, Squaw didn’t open until about Dec. 3 last season. It would literally take a miracle to open much sooner.
Sorry, hope this doesn’t spoil your travel plans.
Here in Utah the resorts usually open very late November, around Thanksgiving time, and that is iffy, it depends on the upcoming season. We are at a higher elevation by a tad, also.
Mid-november…look in the tahoe area, Boreal makes a lot of snow and is sometimes open around then…other than that Mammoth sometimes opens early. It all depends on temperatures and storms.
Skip big bear. That time of year all you will be riding on is rocks dusted with man made stuff. Your best bet is to plan on staying in the Tahoe area. There are 12 major resorts with in a 1/2 hour drive. North Star has the most snow making capabilities out of any resort in the country, so they would be a wise bet. Squaw and Alpine Meadows also have a push to see who can open first every year. Don’t go by opening date. If a mountain can open sooner it will. The open date is just a projected to have most of the mountain open to the public. Good luck and keep a keen eye on the snow reports leading up to your trip.
