I know there are many: the food, the architecture, the sports, but what is the BIGGEST reason why people go there?
I know there are many: the food, the architecture, the sports, but what is the BIGGEST reason why people go there?
what I mean is, what brings in the highest percentage of tourists?

the culture, its so raw,the way they dress and speak and eat there’s something very special and beautiful about it all
possibly the art … i went to the louvre and it was AMAZING and im not into art
the culture I suppose and refinement, but statistically Paris, for being a famous city is what attracts the highest percent of tourists.
I suspect that people visit Paris because it is a place fixed in the imagination of every educated person.
Paris is filled with things that are what Pierre Nora calls a lieu de mémoire (place of memory). And as Baron de Pöllnitz said in 1732 Paris has been described so much and one has heard it talked about so much, that most people know what the city looks like without ever having seen it.
As such, there is a desire to see with one’s own eyes this place that we remember from movies, TV shows, and paintings. We look for the places that Hemingway and James Joyce wandered. We want to see the places Toulouse Lautrec painted, the cafe where Sartre held forth, the bookstore where Jack Kerouac hung out, the restaurant where Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin dined, the bar where Jim Morrison had his last drink, and the final resting place of the Marquis de Lafayette.
It’s one of the top tourist destinations in the world because it is so beautiful and diverse and the culture and history is superbe. I’ve been to a lot of places, but France is still one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
The reputation of the country (Paris in particular) and the food – and easy women, for guys!
