What is a good destination for a city break in early January?

RacheyJ asked:

My partner is 30 so we’d like to go away for a long weekend to celebrate. Don’t mind the temperature as long as there is good food, interesting things to see etc. We’ve already been to Rome, Paris, Barcelona so preferably somewhere different.

Any place hot all year round. Like Florida or somewhere similar.

People are never at disney in Jan. or December.

What about Madrid with its marvellous Prado Museum about painting. In the neighbourhood you have several ancient towns like Toledo, Segovia, Ávila and some others more.
In Spain you normally have fine weather, and always good food and better wines. People are
very friendly to tourists. The connection to the aforementioned towns is very good.

If you’re not bothered about the temperature try St Petersburg. Because it’s dark all the time in winter the people make up for it with all sorts of festivals and activities.
