Ruby asked:
We might be going to Spain in March and are for sure going to visit Barcelona, Valencia, and Madrid. It’s possible we might go to Sevilla. We are going on day trips to Toledo and Segovia. We are going to pick one other city to go to for 2-4 days. I am deciding between Cordoba and Salamanca. I would appriciate any personal experiances to either city. THANKS!!!

Córdoba is really small. There isn’t that much to see.
Salamanca is a bit out of the way.
Stay in Sevilla, but stop in Granada on the way from Valencia. Go to Córdoba for a day (if you can really fit it in) from Sevilla…it’s about 45 mins by train.
Sevilla is WAAAAAAAAAAAY better! Much more to do and see. Granada merits at least a day. You want to get tickets to the Alhambra online to avoid the lines. In March, the gardens aren’t going to be all that exciting, but the rest is spectacular!
…. What Dart said.
– Also, try not to spread yourself too thin – you don’t want to be rushing from one city to another as that way you will spend most of your time travelling.
Valencia is also a good city to visit and has recently had a massive amount spent on it as a result of getting the Grand Prix. Hositing the America’s cup, and being the European city of culture – I have enclosed a link so you can see some of the attractions -
Barcelona, Granada, Madrid, and Sevilla are the must see cities in Spain.
Cordoba, Salamanca, Toledo and Segovia are all worth a visit and although smaller than the others, have important things to see. Cordoba has the cathedral / mosque. For some reason, I have never explored Cordoba or Salamanca, although I have driven through them.
I have never bothered to stop in Valencia. I do not believe it has anything of interest other than the Fallas.
Of course, don’t cut out Toledo or Segovia, no matter what! They are enchanting!
Barcelona and Madrid have so many corners to discover, you need to pick a few and hit the hot spots.
Sevilla and Granada are musts. One day in Granada is sufficient, two for Sevilla, more if you can.
Córdoba, while beautiful, has little more than the Cathedral/Mezquita, which is incredible! But the other things can be missed. I’d spend a day there.
Madrid makes a good home base, but there are only a few things you really must do there.
Don’t forget to figure in your travel time. It takes a full day from Barcelona to Granada or Valencia by train…much less if you fly (which, incidentally, is cheaper, too)
Bilbaooooo in Basque Country!!! =D
