What all do I need to Visit England?

King James asked:

Do I need a Visa? Does just a passport do? I am an American Male age 20 and I want to visit England and I hope to stay at most 3 months but I am thinking more like a month if not less. Please help me find out what all I need to do in order to do this.

If you have a look here: that will answer your question in a lot more depth. If you are just coming over as a tourist then the maximum amount of time you can stay is 6 months. You will definatley need a passport so I would apply for one now. I am not entirely sure how it works getting a tourist visa for the uk (i am english so have never had to go through the process before) but I would assume it is like when I have visited the US: You dont have to do anything prior but when you get off the plane you have to go through immigration and they will ask you a few questions about your stay then attach a temporary visa inside your passport showing when you must leave the country by. I am pretty sure you dont have to buy it beforehand like australia and other countries. Good Luck.

Unless you have some sort of criminal record, you will probably be covered by the Visa Waiver scheme. If you are in doubt, consult the nearest British Embassy.

This means that you don’t need a visa, instead you fill in a visa waiver card along with your landing card before you pass through immigration at the UK end. You have to have a return flight booked to use visa waiver and the maximum stay is 90 days.
You will of course need your passport too.

btw, If you’re planning to visit or stay in London, I suggest you acquire a London A-Z as getting lost is *easy*.
