We generally use Welcome Cottages, they have some good deals going for most of the year, and have properties all over the UK…
I’d recommend something in the New Forest down South. I’ll do a quick Google for cottages…
mmm, that looks nice…
wellllll, if ya like walking and peacefulness………try Inverness, Scotland. At the top half of Loch Ness, nice quiet town, and you’ll really enjoy yourselves. Edinborough was also a throughly enjoyable walkable place, and lively as all get out in August. Don’t MISS the Military Royal Tattoo, at the Castle, a real Bagpipe extraganza! It was AWESOME.
Silloth, on the Solway Firth, is a lovely unspoilt small Victorian town in Cumbria. It has some lovely coastal walks, and is on the northern edge of the Lake District which is famous for its scenery, walks, and hill-climbing.
There are several small hotels and guest houses in Silloth, and also a couple of holiday villages with lots of onsite facilities. Looking over the Solway Firth from Silloth the view is of Scotland, the main feature being Criffel Pike. The skies are wide and beautiful, the sunsets dramatic! Ten miles or so north of Silloth is Carlisle, then just a bit further you’re into Dumfries and Galloway, a lovely part of Scotland, with the end of Hadrian’s Wall and Gretna Green being very close by.
My family and I stayed in Silloth for a week nearly two years ago, in a holiday village, and it was great.
Cornwall is gorgeous, and I just happen to look after a pretty little place in Polruan, Fowey. I have enclosed some links, have a look at this lovely place.=
If you want somewhere even quieter, I might suggest my village of Lerryn, where Kenneth Moore was inspired to write Wind in the Willows It’s just gorgeous, and so peaceful, I spend hours in the huge woods near my home. It’s just 5 miles from Polruan, and Polperro, and 6 miles from The Eden Project Cornwall’s new main attraction.
This part of Cornwall is only 30 miles over the Cornish border, so if you are only here for a few days, travelling is reduced.
