Sheffield and The Peak District

If you need destinations to plan to visit either as a tourist visiting England or as UK based traveller then there are certain parts of England that you simply must visit at least once in your lifetime and one of those has to be South Yorkshire.

The image of smoking chimneys and mass industrialisation is in reality a bit of a misnomer for modern day Yorkshire, these days industry is much more subdued, but while still here the region has far more greater treasures to offer.

The mining in the north and east of Yorkshire has long since quietened down and it is doubtful whether the mining activities will ever get even close to the heyday of there former levels. Sheffield is still world renowned for its exquisite silver canteens of cutlery.

Any visit to the South Yorkshire area would not be complete with a trip to the Peak District national park one of the most visited national parks in the whole world. The Peak District offers outstanding natural beauty and enough activities to keep most people very busy.

The national park caters for probably every possible taste and is very popular with the international climbing community, largely due to the excellent and varied climbs in the area. Climbing is only one of many activities though which range from casual hiking to mountain biking or even helicopter tours if you fancy a little extra excitement.

If the more sedate pace of life is more to your liking then the area is also steeped in heritage and culture.

Brodsworth Hall and gardens, just to the north of Doncaster is a true survivor of the mid 1800’s and is said to be one of the finest complete examples of Victorian living and the most complete Victorian country houses ever to have survived in this country.

The main city in Yorkshire is also rival to the capital of England for the crown of a cultural area, if arts are your love then there are a choice of major galleries you can visit whilst here as well as the largest theatre complex outside of London itself. A few days in Sheffield will truly be the icing on the cake of your South Yorkshire adventure.

  • Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people consider worries that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
