no i didn’t, but gut wrenching? i thought switzerland was all happiness, cheese and cuckoo clocks..

    EDIT
assisted ******* is a personal matter. my wife says she would ask for it where as i would say no..

there’s a big debate going on in italy now about the same subject. a young girl has been in a coma for 17 years and the family want to switch off the machines. unfortunately in italy the vatican always gets involved

No, I assume it was about about assisted *******…

Edit: Yes Afro I agree with it; with strict regulations though.

I don’t agree with euthanasia so I didn’t watch it.

I’m absolutely an advocate of it. If a beloved pet is ill, with no chance of a recovery, we can put the pet down, to alleviate its suffering. Do the same thing to a person, and the law would have your hide. Nice to know animals matter more than people.

hmm seams intersting I never would’ve guessed it was about ******* when I think of switzerland I think cheese, the alps and scary boarding schools.

I wasn’t going to watch it because the subject was so awful, but I dipped in for a few minutes and I was hooked. It was so awful to see the events enacted so compellingly on the screen.

I know that if I was in the same position, I would want the same help. As a society we would not allow an animal to suffer like that, but we routinely allow human beings to die in the most awful circumstances.

As long as the controls are there, I see nothing wrong in ending life prematurely.

It was also very brave of Julie Walters to try to convey the subject and the character with such sensitivity.

I never watched it but do know the subject well and as a nurse always have the belief to preserve life and save it when ever possible however can see the other side and do not like to see suffering but could not go through with what they did personally

a very emotive subject , superbly handled by the brilliant julie walters,

i hope i never find myself in that position

Yes I did see it Afro. I agree wholeheartedly, it was gut wrenching.
I’ve been in the position of having to watch a dearly loved family member in great pain, ebbing away slowly, them praying that they’ll just drift off quietly to sleep not wake up.
I believe it comes to personal choice at the end of the day, if it is well regulated, the person is of sound mind with no hope of recovery if there is no quality of life left it should be their decision.

Yes I support it. I know exactly how she feels as having had cancer 3 times now the thought had crossed my mind but i was lucky and recovered. I do not know if i could have been as brave. I thought the show was expertly done and was very emotional. I applaud the family for putting her first.

Yup, I watched it and I have to say it was amazing. It was incredibly sad, it made me cry so much. Julie Walters did a fantastic job. I definitely agree with euthanasia.
