Pet friendly short weekend breaks in Devon or Cornwall?

daddytobe asked:

Hi, i am desperately looking to book a short weekend break (friday night, saturday night, leave sunday) over the next 3 to 4 weeks for me, my fiancee, 6mth old baby boy and a dog or 2!!

Can anyone recommend any good self catering places that are dog friendly, preferably near dog friendly beaches etc, as my fiancee is totally knackered looking after our little gem of a boy and i would like to treat her to a short break (on a budget).

Thanks

There are lots of cottages that are self catering in Devon and Cornwall that are pet friendly. We recently went to Jackna Park in Polperro and took three children and two dogs! It had a lovely garden and the animals are more welcome than people – a really friendly place where you pets can also go into pubs and restaurant’s with you! There isn’t much of a beach there, but there are some lovely walks over the hills overlooking the sea and it is a really cosy place for a family with pets to go – a refreshing break for your wife and great for the children and dogs alike.

Just put in your search engine and type in Jackna Park.

I also think they do other dog friendy accommodation and probably have other offices in Devon if you were interested.

Have a wonderful time – you will never want to leave!

    Try this link -

I’ve booked with Holiday Lettings before – went to a really cute cottage in Wales, which was pet friendly to a tee.

Not sure which beaches are dog friendly in Cornwall/Devon – but if you ask the owner of the property you enquire about they should be happy to help you out with that one.

Hope you find somewhere and have a relaxing break!

Try some of the Haven sites, some of them let you take dogs. Devon Cliffs is a good site in Exmouth. If not then Woolacombe is nice too and the Golden Coast site has a creche (hopefully still open) which you do have to pay a little extra for but it will give you both a break from baby for a a couple of hours.

If you can go before the end of October suggest John Fowler Holiday Parks. They are very good, have stayed at a couple myself, and can recommend them, but they close in winter. You may be interested in them another year if too late for this, which is why I mention them. A lot of Holiday Parks close in the Westcountry for the winter, which rather limits your choice.
You could try Braddicks Holiday Centre at Westward Ho! in North Devon. They open all year, have some accommodation allowing pets, and the Centre is a five/ten minute walk from a lovely beach and the village. There are also good sea views from the chalets. I have stayed there myself, and can recommend it.
A lot of beaches allow dogs on them in the winter, although they are banned in summer.
