One day tours from Edinburgh?

Priya asked:

I wish to take a one day-day trip from Edinburgh. I want to go to Loch Ness and Highlands. Can anyone recommend a good tour company with a luxury coach?

    Scotline Tours: £32.00 per adult

    From the website:
Scotline invites you to tour to mysterious Loch Ness, with an option to visit Urquhart Castle and take a boat cruise on this legendary stretch of water. We Leave Edinburgh at 08.00hrs and explore some of the most beautiful and dramatic areas of Scotland. After a morning coffee stop at Kilmahog, we travel through Rob Roy Country and arrive at the Weeping Glen of Glencoe, the infamous site of the 1692 Massacre, for a photo stop. after another short drive we arrive at Fort William for lunch. Fort William is in the shadow of Ben Nevis – Britain’s highest mountain. We then continue to Spean Bridge where we have an opportunity to view and photograph The Great Glen. From here we follow the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. The Castle provides a superb bantage point to see the deepest part of the loch. Here you can enjoy an optional visit to the 12th Century castle and take a short cruise on the Loch. On our homeward journey, we pass by Inverness, through the Grampian Mountains and beautiful scenery to your refreshment stop. We continue our journey through Perthshire until we come to the famous Forth Rail Bridge before arriving in Edinburgh at approximately 20.30 hrs at Waverley Bridge where the tour ends.

    Try this one. Only £38.

The Loch Ness Monster – fact or fiction? Find out on this splendid tour through the glorious Scottish Highlands.

The journey northwards takes us through Rob Roy MacGregor country to desolate Rannoch Moor. We’ll travel through haunting Glen Coe, the ‘Glen of Weeping’. In 1692 40 of the resident MacDonald clan were massacred in cold blood by the Campbells for not forswearing the Jacobite cause. It is said that you can still hear their cries! We’ll make a stop in this awe-inspiring place so that you can marvel at the natural beauty of the glen for yourself.

Next we travel to Fort William, which sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis—Britain’s tallest mountain. A real highlight is our drive through the Great Glen which is also the route taken by the Caledonian Canal. We will criss-cross the canal several times as we make our way to Inverness.
The Great Glen contains three lochs which will offer us spectacular vistas. Firstly Loch Lochy then Loch Oich and lastly Loch Ness. The pretty little village of Fort Augustus is our gateway to Scotland’s largest and most famous loch. We will tour the entire length of Loch Ness, stopping at Urquhart Castle for a photograph. Here you can visit the Castle and enjoy a cruise on the loch— could that shadow be the monster?

Shortly we will arrive in Inverness. We will make a further stop so that you can discover the Capital of the Highlands for yourself. Later we will start our journey southwards through the Spey Valley then on to the dramatic scenery of Glen Garry. We’ll make a brief stop in the delightful Victorian resort of Pitlochry before we head for Perth then Edinburgh.
A wonderful day out and maybe, just maybe……
