Indian girl visiting London for the first time. Any travel tips?

BeautifulFlower asked:

I am a 22 yr old indian girl from Boston; staying over in London for about 4 days near Heathrow airport during October. Can anyone suggest any travel tips apt during the month of october; must see places of interest; commuting buses; less expensive restaurants. I am a high energy person; like to walk places; boating; nature trails; shopping centers. Any nice indian restaurants? I appreciate any good suggestions. Thanks!

Judging by the ****** lot in here, who feels like they’ve lost their british identity, i would stay indoors…

Glad you like to walk because there is plenty to walk around to. Buckingham palace, london bridge, its a long strip and town centers with lots of shopping. If you can catch the changing of the guards, thats quite interesting. Nice little military show.

OH but remember to watch your pockets. Biggest crime is pick pockets. I carry all my stuff in a back pack with the zippers locked and both straps on my shoulders.

Have fun and I have to admit I am a little jealous. I miss my native land. Don’t forget your coat!!

    Take Care!

Is that Indian as in what English would call Indian, that is originating from the country of India, Or Asian, as we would call people from the Asian sub continent such as Indians and Pakistanis, or Asian in the American meaning of Eastern/Oriental people. Or Indians as in the American cowboys and indians? Please advise

For travelling around, buy an Oyster card it’s cheaper than paying single fares on London transport,if u pay by cash they charge double.
Take a trip to the Thames and take in some art at Tate Modern,it’s free, also. London is full of Indian restaurants, most of which are fairly priced.Hope you have fun,London is fantastic.

I went to London last year and went to a few pretty cool places. The London Dungeon is a fun place. It is London’s hunted house but it is nothing like a haunted house in the US. It isn’t very scary but it is very interesting because it is basically a walkthrough of all the lives of the masmurderers back in the old days. It has a lot of history. The Tower of London is a must. It is huge castle grounds that have many old time buildings still in tact. It is great for a walker lover because there are so many places to walk to and explore. I thought it was also really neat because it is still set up like the old days. There is also a huge strip of shopping stores and malls that I cannot remember the name of but it is downtown and just ask someone once you get there because everyone knows where they are. Also some words of advice…you are going to have to take the subway a lot to get to places and it is a good idea to keep your money on the inside pocket of a jacket or something because people will bump you on the tramway and steal your money. They love the tourists lol But I had a wonderful time and there is definatley a lot to do and a lot of walking around envolved. Just ask someone Have a good time

Sorry to disappoint, but there’s no way you’re going to find a nature trail near Heathrow airport.
