Ideas please for a weekend break for 2 kids?

Stevie asked:

We live in London and need ideas for a weekend break this coming weekend for 2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 and 9.
We can drive but prefer not to have to drive more than 3 hours each way- interests include rough and tumble, water etc.
Many thanks
SM

Try Thorpe Water Park near Chertsey/Heathrow. Its amazing fun, loads to do and you can even go and do some plane spotting if the youngsters are into that kind of thing. The link for Thorpe is . Give it a go, failing that Chessington is worth a thought. If animals are your thing Longleat may be achievable depending on what side of town you live. Good luck and have fun

if its a good weekend try camping if there is anywhere handy in your travelling range – u should get a tent, sleeping bags and air beds for about £100 from halfords, argos or some such shop.

Could be worth searching for ‘kids activity breaks’ on the net (If you haven’t already) – you might get some good deals as it’s the end of the season. Or maybe camping on a beach somewhere (Check the tides though!!!)
