Bath is a beautiful town and very picturesque countryside around as well.
go to devon..its beautiful..countryside and beaches…amazing scenery…you would love it….moved from essex down there…its a proper holiday!!x
Try the Gower or Tenby in Wales its beautiful
Buxton or St. Albans-both have historic and interesting places to see and visit,and beautiful scenery.
Why not visit the Cotswolds? It’s not too far to travel from London (about 2 hrs by car, may be a bit more), the scenery is spectacular and you can stay in lovely little villages.

I’d have to say Scotland is your best bet. If you go to either of the big citys up there – Edinburgh or Glasgow – the history is there waiting for you. I’ve heard that Edinburgh is better as Glasgow is just shops, but as I’ve never been there I wouldn’t like to say for sure. A short journey out of the city centre will ensure you get the best scenery the country has to offer, though not quite on the same scale as Canada!
If that is too far away, the Lakes are a good place to go but it is more countryfied, smaller and touristy in high season. Though you can d othe literature trail with the Romantic poets having a strong connectino to the Lakes.
Why not try staying in a cob cottage or wooden cabin or canel boat something different
Hi why not try North Yorkshires ,nice village good place for long walks ,WHOOPS ,sorry the village is osmotherley off the A19 great place nice BB the Three Tuns !we loved it.ENJOY!

Or if you like the seaside , you might consider Morecambe. It’s lovely at this time of year.

Why not try a low cost airline to Edinburgh , stay in a Travel Inn or equivalent, and tour around, taking in Stirling and Fife as well as the Edinburgh area? I would suggest the Travel Inn at South Queensferry as a base with its amazing views of the Forth Bridges.
A Friday to Monday break will whet your appetite and you’ll soon be back for a longer holiday.
definately the lake district ,its very picturesque at this time of year . wrap up warm though!
How about the Cotswolds?? We have lots of interesting places here!!
