You’d have to check with local travel agencies. You will be able to find cheap companies, I dont know what companies you have, Im from Scotland and dont know if its the same over there.
But I lookled and found one for about $640
On some other sites its was about $450, and $507
So i recommend looking at the airplane companies site to book, they will have an accurate pricing

Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and an important financial center for the EU. It is the second-largest city in Scotland and attracts the second largest number of tourists per year in the UK. Edinburgh is home to the famed performing arts festival, the Fringe Festival, and the end-of-the-year celebration, Hogmanay. Travelers should not miss the stoic Edinburgh Castle or a climb up to Arthur’s Seat.
Airfare to Edinburgh will be the cheapest on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday. Mondays are popular with business travellers and weekends are key dates for holidaymakers wanting the longest trips possible – avoid these dates.
Also consider flights into London, England or Glasgow, Scotland. To get between the cities, you can grab a spot on a train, bus or flight. Look for cheap flights on no frills Europe airlines. easyJet and Sterling fly to Edinburgh. Although it will take longer to reach your destination, a bus or train could save you enough cash to make it worth your while.
Another possible money-saving tip is to look for flights that go through London, England; Frankfurt, Germany; or another major gateway city instead of flying direct. Because there are more flights – and competition – from these cities on Europe low budget airlines, you can save some cash over flying non-stop to your destination. Flights within Europe rarely exceed two-and-a-half hours. It is very common to layover in one of these main cities.
Finally, consider traveling on a lesser-known carrier. British Airways is the national airline. However, ThomsonFly, KLM and other airlines also stop in Edinburgh.
The most expensive air tickets to Edinburgh are found during peak holiday travel times, such as the summer Eurail season. Also be aware of national events or festivals, which can also cause ticket prices to rise.
Summary of Money Saving Tips:
Fly mid-week
Book your holiday during the off-peak winter season, January-March
Consider flying into London, England or Glasgow, Scotland and traveling overland to Edinburgh via train or bus
Look for flights that go through large cities, with many flights
Check out carriers besides the national airline – they may undercut the monopolistic competition

I always travel with the Swiss airlines. It’s a very cheap and extremely safe company.
I am not sure if there is a flight from Texas, You will maybe need to get a connecting flight. Search in the internet, It’s always cheaper.
I don’t think that there are many, if any direct flights from Dallas to Edinburgh. Most flights have one stop in New York, London Heathrow, Paris or Frankfurt depending on which carrier you use.
Your best option would be to enquire at a Travel Agent as most of the on-line flight search engines don’t allow you to look for a flight so far in advance.
Continental Airlines have a economy flight stopping in New York on Dec 1st 2009 round trip $1640 per person.
