Ford Probe 6cyl V is losing water over 2 days. No obvious leaks. Any short term remedy to add sealant to water

davebeth asked:

A small amount of white exhaust. Engine runs fantastic on my short trip to work 8 miles. 2 days ad I have to put in fair amount of water. radiator no sign of leak. Hoses seem OK. If cynlinder gasket it could be the end of my fanatastic Probe as costs would be huge to have fixed. I cry myself to sleep at night!!

You need to get it fixed right or get rid of it. The stop leak they sell at the stores is horrible. My girlfriends dad did that to her car before we met, and 1 year later I take it to a radiator shop. The entire cooling system was rotten. The car was totalled because of the five dollar fix. Fix it right or get rid of it.

I’m no mechanic but sounds like you could have a leak into your combustion cyl, as evidenced by your exhaust.
Check your oil, if it’s milky, or has water, that’s proof.
Either way, run, don’t walk to u r mechanic. Good luck!

Check the oil level. Maybe the radiator water is going streaky white. Thats bad news.

Hi try some barrs stop leak in the water tank and run it for a while afterwards,it sounds like it could be a head gasket problem give barrs a try and see available from any good motor factors or garage shop.

If it is cooler outside in the morning the white smoke could just be condensation as normal. but if it belches white smoke that is a definite head gasket issue and needs to be dealt with or you will ruin the engine. If it is or starts to run rough this will be the culprit. After running the engine check the oil level if it is too high or a milky white/brown, you need to stop driving it. Get it into a shop. Get it fixed only about a grand or so and then it is like new and you don’t have to do car payments. A good shop will extend you a little credit to get it fixed right.. Good Luck

Shocked that a Master Mechanic would even come close to suggesting Barrs to seal a leak…

if you just want to keep it running as long as possible, you might try some block sealer, the one with sodium silicate…

This is probably just the beginning of many more problems. Put some radiator sealer in it(just to seal the leak) and sell (or trade)that car. Don`t cry any tears over this car, you`ll be doing yourself a favor(by getting rid of it now).
