I opened my GCSE, AS level and A level results way after I received them- I hated the peer pressure associated with opening them at the time. If you're really anxious about them, couldn't you get a neighbour or friend to post them on to you? or open them on your behalf? Personally, I preferred giving it a cooling off period before I opened mine- less stress! Go away.

If GCSEs then go on holiday, if A levels - are you planning to go to Uni? If so, you need to be at home when they come either to confirm your place or, if the results aren't good enough, to get onto the Uni as early as possible to plead your case or to go into clearing.
