do i need to apply for something to visit england for 5 to 6 months?

MilkyWay asked:

I live in the u.s.a and I will be visiting england soon. I am going to stay for about 5 to 6 months, now I know that you can stay in the UK for up to 6 months without a visa but is there still something I need to apply for or something that I need to fill in? Or do I just have to book a ticket and fly there with no hassle or paper work?

You might need to apply for an overdraft, we’re currently paying around $6.50 per US gallon for gasoline!

As long as you don’t intend to work or study, get married or seek medical treatment, all of which require a specific visa, you can just come and enjoy.

Do be aware that you must satisfy immigration that you intend going home at the end of your visit and that you have sufficient funds to finance your stay without recourse to public funds.

I think you may have to fill in some paper work at the airport to show that you intend to leave. Get in touch with your embassy before you leave just to double check.
