Charter Flight Tips For Beginners

March 6th, 2010 — 02:36 am

For a very long time, if you want to take a trip to another country or state, you would need to make the bookings way ahead of time in order to make sure that you are not only able to get the best deals for your flight reservations.  You would also need to make the necessary arrangements for your hotel accommodations and car rentals as well.  Many people who are planning to travel on a budget tend to book vacation packages instead since they are able to make such accommodations while spending the least amount of money.

Charter flight packages have now provided students with an affordable means to travel anywhere in the country or to any part of the world.  These packages are comparatively cheaper as opposed to making your traveling plans by purchasing a regular air fare and hotel accommodation.  It is no wonder then why this has become a favorite option not just by students but also anyone who is traveling on a budget.

Booking charter flights can be a novel idea for even the most frequent travelers.  Here are just a few travel tips to help you get the most out of your very first charter flight.

One of the most helpful tips when booking your first charter flight is to choose the right charter flight company.  While there are a number to choose from, it is important to make sure that the company is stable enough that it remains afloat until you return from your trip.  Charter flight reservations are completely non-refundable so when a cancellation takes place either on your part or on the part of the company, the chances of you getting your money back is slim to none.  On top of that, having your trip cancelled altogether by the company can be extremely frustrating and disappointing especially if you have been looking forward to this trip for a very long time.

The second reason is that unlike regular flight packages, charter flight packages actually cost lower the closer you get to the travel date.  This is because charter flights need to have a specific number of people to take to the trip for the package to push through.  In the event that the travel date is fast approaching and all the seats are not filled, the charter flight company would begin offering great discounts and deals to potential travelers.

Whether you booked the charter flight reservation through a travel agent or on your own through the use of the Internet, it is extremely helpful for you to check your charter flight package on a regular basis.  This is to make sure that you are certain that the flight will be pushing through.  There are some instances that charter flight reservations may be cancelled for one reason or another by the company providing the charter flight package days before the trip.  After all, nothing can be more frustrating than to arrive on the day of your trip only to find out that your charter flight has been cancelled.

As the decades have passed air travel has continually grown in popularity.  This increase in popularity has been due to the convenience and safety one could enjoy by traveling by air.  The following are some of the positive and negative factors involving air travel.

Disadvantage: Airplanes Cause Pollution.

The biggest drawback for traveling by air is the pollution.  Airplanes are responsible for sending greenhouse gases into our atmosphere and these gases contribute for things like global warming.  Global warming increases the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere and people who want to avoid such a rise in temperature are alarmed by this effect.  Many airlines are becoming friendlier to the environment to prevent the effect of global warming. Many airlines take action for retrofitting winglet that is usually intended to improve the efficiency of fixed-wing aircraft thereby reducing greenhouse gas emission. In addition, many airlines have started upgrading their fleet of aero planes to modern fuel efficient aircraft by spending millions of dollars.

Disadvantage: High Cost

One major disadvantage in traveling by air is its cost. You may be able to travel by car to many destinations at a very cheap price as compared to traveling by flight. One way of solving the high cost air travel problem is to take advantage of discount

One of the major advantages in air travel is that it is able to take you to any of the places where airports are available at a much faster rate than any other forms of transportation.  Driving in United States between places could take you a number of days whereas you could cover this distance in a few hours by flight. Since you are saving a number of days by flying you can enjoy longer vacations.

Flying to far off destinations takes longer duration; however they are still shorter than the time taken if you had to rely on alternative modes of transportation.

Advantage:  Safety

With regards to other forms of travel, air travel is considered to be one of the safest.  Each year thousands of deadly car crashes happen.  It is also not uncommon to read about train derailments as well.  Air travel related disasters do happen but they occur much less frequently.  For many people safety is the prime consideration for choosing air travel as compared to other form of transportation.

Memorable Attractions in Lanzarote

February 8th, 2010 — 05:58 am

Being one of the most popular islands in the Canary Islands, Lanzarote is a popular holiday destination.  It offers year round heat due to it being close to the west coast of Africa.Locals call the wind that this produces the ‘Saharan Winds’ which blow from the Sahara desert.  All this couples with the exceptional beaches and warm seas makes it obvious why Lanzarote holidays are so popular.Lanzarote is one of the favourite holiday destinations which can be seen by the amount of people who choose to go back.  Here are some of my personal highlights that have made my holidays memorable.

Cueva de los Verdes
Lanzarote was created by a volcanic eruption over 3000 years ago.The main attraction of the caves is the amazing green tint on the walls.Water in the caves are incredibly calm which adds to the magical experience.  It is only on breaking the water that you can see this deception.

Jameos del Agua
This is located quite close to Cueva de los Verdes which is a nice surprise.Jameos del Agua Cave is a volcanic forms cave~Jameos del Agua {is a volcanic formed cave}~is a beautiful cave formed because of the eruption}.  Jameo refers to a cave with a collapsed roof. With a tropical feel, white beautiful sand, blue clear pools and palm trees you will have an amazingly relaxing time here.

The Timanfaya Park

The Timanfaya Park amounts to 51sq kilometres of volcanic soil~Timanfaya National Park {is popular for its volcanicsoil and lunar landscape}~{is famous for its amazing lunar landscape and volcanic soil}~is famous for the amazing views of lunar landscape and volcanic rock}.The scenery from the park are amazing and will make you feel like you aren’t even on this planet.  Touring the park is an experience in itself. On boarding these busses you entrust the driver with your life, the roads are only just wide enough for the bus.  They weave you around craters up hills and take you to some of the best views that the park has to offer.
A Meal Cooked by Volcanic Heat
The most impressive moment of the tour is at the Restaurant el Diablo.  Prior to going into the restaurant the guides like to prove to you that this is an active volcano. To do this, you could try it in three ways.  There is a natural cavity in the floor that goes down a fair way; the first experiment you see is the guide placing some straw into the cavity.  After what feels like a few seconds the straw turns to flames, all this with the natural heat that is there just a few feet below us.  At the next experiment you see a tube in the ground again it only goes down a few feet. They will dramatically pour some cold water and wait until only 3 seconds late steam and water shoots out, often making all the tourists jump.

The final magical experience is to try and walk over the huge hole which has been converted into an oven, whose natural heat is hot enough to cook the food in the restaurant.  You are allowed to look in and you can feel the heat of what’s below. You need to move fast in this room as it has metal floors rightover the volcano, it starts to feel slippy which must be the soles of your shoes melting. You can then sit and eat while watching the beautiful sunset.Lanzarote promises to give you a memorable holiday suitable for families, couples and friends.

Car rental comparision websites

February 3rd, 2010 — 08:27 am

So many car rental offers are now available online that the choice is overwhelming. Basic questions you need to ask include:

  • Are all car hire deals the same?
  • Is there are difference between the big and lesser known rental firms?
  • What if a book direct with the actual hirer who will supply the car?
  • Can the collect point alter the hire rate charged?
  • Is the time of year a factor in the price I am quoted?

Most car hire packages are remarkably similar in terms of the types of cars, general terms of agreements and basic prices. Care hire quotes differ mainly in what they include in the price, or charge extra for. Hire car insurance cover is often the biggest variable, in terms of how much cover is included and therefore what you have to pay for in the hire car is damaged or stolen. If there is a claim you may have to pay a fixed sum, even if you have “collision damage waiver” included in your hire. There is often still a fixed amount which is not cover by the collision damage waiver and this can by hundreds or even thousands of pounds. It is only when then arrive to collect a hire car that customers are asked for a credit card to be ‘swiped’ as security against this cost, or to an additional insurance charge to alleviate, or in some cases, completely eliminate this additional risk. This is the single biggest potential extra cost and any such charges should be researched confirmed before booking.

Most car rental companies standardise prices although service at franchise-run locations can vary. The less well known, newer hire car firms are often little more than intermediaries who market a service under their brand but when you arrive you will find that your car might actually be supplied by one of the larger firms. Relatively obscure car renters can actually be partnering with the much bigger firms, so that you actually pick the car up from a familiar branded hire desk.

Comparing car rental prices is all very well but comparison websites allow you to also check the extra costs which are not included in the price quoted. Nearly all of the major rental companies can be compared in one place and so they all know that the need to offer their cheapest deals on car hire comparison websites. To compare all car hire prices online www.car-hire-rental.co.uk is in ‘partnership’ with a service which the British travel trade press decided was the “Best car hire website” in 2009.

Top Balearic Waterparks for the Family

January 18th, 2010 — 12:56 pm

If you are heading out on recession beating family holidays to any of the Balearics this year, try to make sure you get yourself over to one of these awesome waterparks.  There is nothing better than hitting some of the best water featured attractions in the blazing sun and it has to be said it is the most fun way to cool down in the heat.

Aqualand – Magaluf, Mallorca
This park is massive. With well over 15 slides and many other attractions, if you’re visiting Majorca and are in the west of the island you need to visit this park.  From unique slides like the boomerang, black hole and the tornado to the super slaloms and the 8 lane ‘multi-pistas’ there is an attraction for all.  They even have surf beach pool that can create over 1m high waves, and for the people that just want to relax, try the Congo River.  For the younger children there is the mini park catering in smaller versions of some of the grown up slides

Hidropark – Alcudia, Mallorca
If you are over the east of the island you have the Hidropark in Alcudia.  Hidropark is much smaller than the Aqualand but not short of slides. The kamikaze is well worth a ride although not for the faint hearted.  This park has nothing on Aqualand so if it’s in your budget, I would try to get to the other side of the island and experience the sheer size of the Aqualand.

Aguamar – Playa den Bossa, Ibiza

The White Isle has two worthy waterparks the first, and larger of the two is the Aguamar located just 15 minute bus drive from Ibiza town.  The Aguamar has many slides all will depend how daring you are feeling in your quest to cool down.  There are around seven types of slides as well as your relaxing rubber ring style slides. There is also one that other people describe as the high and fast one. This slide is definately not for the faint hearted.

Agualandia – Talamanca, Ibiza
Talamanca is a family oriented resort that benefits from having Aqualandia nearby.  Aqualandia is smaller than the Aguamar and caters more for children with many more children’s slides and lots of sheltered areas.Aqualandia has the very fun twisty inflatable slides and also the multiple lane slides.  This is without doubt the family friendly waterpark in Ibiza.

Aquacenter – Los Delfines, Menorca

Family friendly Aquacenter in Los Delfines has many attractions for the whole family to get splashing. The best water rides in this park are the Black Hole and the Giant Toboggan. They also have the rides that all water parks have like multi lane slides for the whole family to race to the finish. For the adults there is a Jacuzzi area to hide from the children.

Aquarock – Cala’n Bosch, Menorca
The main attraction in Aquarocks is kamikaze. This is an extreme slide this slide will pummel you into the water at a cracking rate.Like the other parks in this article this water park has a good family area that included smaller versions of the adult slides.  For the water shy family members there is always the go karts to keep you occupied.

Winter Breaks in The Canaries

January 18th, 2010 — 12:56 pm

Summer may be over in mainland Spain but there are outposts where the season never ends.  Such as the Canaries – the seven islands which are situated just off the coast of West Africa, many hundreds of miles south of the Iberian Peninsula.  A location that creates a great climate all year round.

As a result of this great climate the Canaries have become the second most visited region in Spain after Catalunya (with its star attraction of Barcelona).Attracting over 9 million visitors a year.  So despite the current economic climate thousands of travellers will still be booking holidays in Lanzarote and the Canaries this autumn.

Part of the reason for this ongoing popularity is that the Canaries are the closest winter sun destination to key tourist markets such as the UK and Germany.  Which are both just four hours flying time away.  This winter, flight prices for UK visitors also look set to fall thanks to growing competition on the route between the big guns of the low cost flight world.  Which will hopefully help to reduce the price of flights to Lanzarote.

So for those who have never enjoyed a winter sun holiday in this part of the world before what can they expect?  The temperatures will certainly be warm enough for plenty of days on the beach or by the pool.  With the mercury rising into the early 20´s Celsius throughout December and January.  Whilst the sun never sets much before 6pm – in contrast to the dark afternoons prevalent in Britain at that time.  Rainfall is also very low.

The island offers high standards of accommodation too.  Covering all of the bases from high quality hotels through to simple studio apartments.  A growing number of visitors now prefer to book their own accommodation online too – thanks to the growth in internet usage.  And as result interest in – and bookings for – Lanzarote villas have increased enormously over the last decade.

Because of the increase in visitors looking for Lanzarote apartments and villas is good news for holidaymakers and travellers as villa owners need to make sure clients requirements are met, and those extras and traditional add ons are now included in the price.

The resort of choice during he winter months is Playa Blanca, which is located right at the southern foot of the island. And consequently enjoys the best weather.  Playa Blanca has rapidly evolved over the last decade to become the second most popular destination on the island.  With a wide range of villas in Playa Blanca available for rental with prices starting from around £400 per week.  As well as a fine selection of good quality four star hotels lining the shoreline such as the Princesa Yaiza and the Timanfaya Palace.

Lanzarote is a popular year round holiday island with a good choice of holiday resorts. Follow the links for additional information about villas in Playa Blanca in particular or other Lanzarote villas and apartments.

Choosing The Best Car Rental Company

January 18th, 2010 — 12:55 pm

Certain things need to be considered when choosing a car rental agency. Planning the trip in advance and doing a little research about the available agencies will also help you.

Most companies will assure you that by making a reservation with them before you even arrive they will give you lower rates when in actual fact it is the opposite. Car charges are not constant and vary through out the year. So you must be quite clear on the conditions that are described to you and when they apply.

So before choosing a car rental it would be best to have an estimate of the amount that you are willing to spend on the rental, you should also know the places that you intend to visit. Then you should be clear on your dates and how flexible you are on these dates. These facts will help you choose the right car and help you when you are negotiating as well.

The best way to make a car booking would be to do it online. Online bookings are convenient for the car rental agencies and they will offer you a discount for booking online. When you are getting your quote from the car rental ask if their cars have any add on features that you might require. Extra features like storage facilities, roof racks for luggage or sports equipment.

Car rentals will have daily rates for a limited number of km and then charge per km there after. For those renting the car for more than two days you can negotiate a cover charge for the whole period than pay for extra km’s travelled . Some will require you to pay for extra drivers whilst other just need you to have them written down only. If you have good negotiating skills you can get a better deal than the original one, just compare the different agencies. I would suggest that you consider any of the following for good deals:

  1. Car Rental Sandton
  2. Car Hire Johannesburg For A Week
  3. Imperial Car Rental South Africa

Can you spot the Difference?

January 18th, 2010 — 12:54 pm

Is there actually any difference here? So what do you do when there are two of these holidays available to you. Both are at their peak summer times and both are for 7 nights. So which one do you take up, these places are the same as each other, would you be able to quickly make a decision.

The Maldives has a very warm climate, oh, and so does the Caribbean. The Maldives has sandy white beaches and many islands, yet so does the Caribbean. There must be some thing different about these places that will help people to make their minds up about which one they want to go to.

When you really look into it, these two holidays are very different, maybe not the climate, but different aspects. Well technically the Caribbean isn’t a place, it’s more of an area, with places in it’s boundaries. The Maldives is more of a collection of many small islands. In the Maldives you are very restricted to what you can actually do. Don’t go to the Maldives if you want to have a busy and crazy holiday, this is the place for relaxation and spa treatments. Although there are some activities like diving and walking along the beach, these holidays are more designed for you to chill out.

If you want to have a busy night in the Caribbean, then there are places for you to go and enjoy yourself. We muist look a bit deeper to see if there is something that people can distinguish as different between these two places, so that we can make our minds up on where to go. These holidays do have one big difference. You may think that Caribbean holidays are quite expensive, but what about the Maldives ones. Your average Maldives holiday is going to cost you almost twice that of a Caribbean one, leaving you very little spending money.

So Maldives holidays or Caribbean holidays? The luxury is in the Maldives holiday, but it’s also there in St Lucia holidays, here are some holidays that we can all enjoy!

Wales Has Been The Home To Some Pretty Famous Celebrities(Part 1)

January 18th, 2010 — 12:54 pm

There have been many welsh celebrities over the past few years that have gone on to become huge successes. Many of them of course haven’t. This list is just a small amount of the overall people that have gone on to become very successful.

The Brilliant Christian Bale

Yes this huge Hollywood actor was actually born in Wales in 1974. Bale has to be on the list because he is such a huge actor, although he left Wales when he was two he simply has to be on the list. Many people are shocked when they find out that his father was a pilot and his mother a circus clown. After leaving Wales in 1976 he spent many years in England, Portugal and the USA. His top films include American Psycho, Batman Begins and Batman: The Dark Knight and of course Equilibrium.

Duffy (Aimee Duffy)

Aimee Duffy was born in 1984 and is an extremely successful singer-songwriter. The only album she has released so far was called Rockferry and it went on to become the number one album in the UK. What is quite rare for a lot of Welsh people nowadays is the fact that she grew up speaking Welsh as her mother tongue. The name Aimee was dropped a long while back for both personal and professional reasons.

Catherine-Zeta-Jones

Another welsh actor here and was born in Swansea in 1969. Acting was an ambition of Catherine's at a young age and she left school for it. Her most successful films include The Mask of Zorro, Chicago and The Legend of Zorro.

So there it is, only the first snippet of people that went on to become huge stars and were born in Wales, all of these people are now very wealthy.

Part two goes on to talk about Tom Jones, Katherine Jenkins and the controversial Charlotte Church.

Wales is actually a really nice spot to take one of those UK family holidays or perhaps even one of those awesome family days out.

Discover the Sinai Desert with cheap Sharm el Sheikh hotels

December 27th, 2009 — 06:33 am

For holidaymakers worldwide, Egypt lives up to expectations as a land of mystery and intrigue. Its stretching desert full of wondrous treasures tempts travellers from right across the globe. The country’s impressive cities such as Cairo and Luxor are a great place to get involved in all the excitement, but for a more relaxing, seaside alternative many people turn to Sharm el Sheikh. From beach to desert, Sharm offers the best of both worlds thanks to its prime coastal position. There are plenty of cheap Sharm el Sheikh hotels on offer to help ensure that it is an affordable experience as well.

The Sharm el Sheikh region is home to one of Egypt’s most significant religious sites. It was near St Catherine’s Monastery in the desert that Moses first saw the burning bush before journeying up Mount Sinai nearby to receive the Ten Commandments. Today’s visitors can follow in the footsteps of Moses, either literally or with the help of a local camel.

Holidaymakers can enjoy an extra injection of culture by booking one of the many day trips or overnight trips available to see the renowned sites of central Egypt, from the Great Temple of Giza in Cairo to the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. These are just some of the wonders to be explored, of course, and when the sightseeing is over visitors can return to the comfort and seaside charm of one of the many Sharm el Sheikh hotels.

Thrill seekers wanting to experience another side to the desert will find plenty of excitement in Sharm el Sheikh. It is easy and cheap to rent a quad bike or a horse for an afternoon of fun. Those wishing for a more authentic and prolonged desert experience can travel by camel through the Sinai’s secret valleys and hidden oases to the nearby and must-see natural features such as Coloured Canyon and, of course, Mount Sinai itself.

Away from the desert, in the heart of Sharm el Sheikh’s resort centre, there are many lively restaurants, cafes, clubs and shops on offer. Most guides and merchants can be talked down in price, and there are many good quality, cheap hotels to be found, from bed and breakfast options to all inclusive Sharm el Sheikh hotels. Sharm is certainly a jewel, but happily it is an affordable one.

Take a Trip to Sydney

December 27th, 2009 — 06:33 am

With stresses in the workplace, stresses from family concerns, and other disastrous distractions in their daily lives, most people want to de-stress and take a well-deserved break!  Unfortunately, giving in to breaks and some recreation could also lead to a bit of stress because taking time off could mean extra expenses.Still, that is not like it–always.

People who want to get away from work can time a well-deserved break when their friends come in for a visit or they could just get on a car and explore their city to find new sites and adventures.  With a few hundred dollars from their cash loan, people can already have a great time with friends.  One great city to roam around in is Sydney, Australia.Like a pilgrimage, thousands and thousands of travelers visit this popular Australian city.  Even Aussies from other places such as Brisbane and even as far as Perth, would find great things to see and experience in Sydney.  Here are some tips for the newbie visitors to Sydney, either from across the Pacific or just across the country, who want to get the best out of their trip.

Sports-minded visitors and local tourists, who want to get bush-whacked at the end of the day, should try Sydney’s awesome water sports!Tourists and travelers who want to learn surfing can go look over the many surfing classes offered along Bondi Beach.Swimming and fishing are good alternatives to surfing.  Water lovers could get their fill of the sea by kayaking along Nielsen Bay.  In Nielsen Bay, they can paddle along some of the expensive coastline in Australia, as they take a look at the local real estate and admire the gorgeous yachts in the harbor.  After kayaking, they a cool drink at kiosks around Neilson Bay Park is recommended.  But, if they want more exciting, extreme-kind of sports to do, they could venture out to the Blue Mountain ranges for some hardcore mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding.

However, if the funds from the fast loans is getting a bit low, first-time tourists can do what Sydney dwellers do and take the ferry for more explorations.By taking a Watsons Bay Ferry ride, travelers can visit the harbor suburb and learn about the small fishing village.  Of course, the place tourists don’t want to miss is the world-famous Sydney Opera House.  So, for those who want to take a break and have a little fun, they could take on Sydney.

Getting Around Disneyworld with Your Toddler or Baby

December 7th, 2009 — 02:34 pm

Brought to you by click here for the cheapest car insurance rate quote.

As a parent, you already know that you don’t want
to have to carry your child around in your arms all
day. You couldn’t possibly make it through the day!
You also can’t expect your child to walk all day long.
The obvious choice is to have a way to transport your
child – without wearing you or the child completely
out.

Strollers are not only welcome at Disneyland, they
are highly recommended. In fact, Disneyland rents
strollers for a reasonable fee. Strollers can be rented
for less than $10 for the day, and you can get a huge
discount on a second stroller if it is needed. The
strollers are clean and well-maintained, but they do
all look alike. Tie something on the stroller, such as
a brightly colored ribbon, to help identify it from all
of the other strollers in the park.

Never leave your child unattended in the stroller, and
never leave any material items of any value in the
stroller either. Even if you bring your own stroller,
you should have some easy way to identify it – there
will be other strollers that look just like it at
Disney Land.

Disney World Baby Centers

Disneyworld is a place for everyone, and at
Disneyworld, they have thought of everything -
including the babies. The Disney World Baby Center
is located on Main Street, behind the Plaza Inn.
This is not a babysitting service. Instead, it is a place
where you can attend to your babies needs.

There are several characters present in this area,
and their purpose there is not only to amuse your
baby, but also to help you attend to your baby’s
needs. This area has rockers, where you can rock
and breast feed your baby. No men are allowed in
this room, but they are allowed in other rooms within
the Baby Center. You can warm a bottle or a jar of
food, and clean bottles as necessary. Baby changing
tables are available, and the entire center is very
clean and comfortable. There are even smaller toilets
for children who are being potty trained.

You can also purchase emergency baby supplies at
the Baby Center. Diapers cost about a dollar each,
and several different types of formula and baby food
are kept in supply, although the selections are l
imited. This is Disneyland’s way of making sure that
the needs of every guest – no matter how small they
may be – are attended to.

Europe Uncovered

December 7th, 2009 — 02:34 pm

You can ask just about anyone, and they will agree with you if you say that you will need alot of time when planning a full blown European trip. The continent is simply too diverse to cover in a single trip. So the question is often uttered how one would go about choosing the best destination between all that is available? Take comfort in the fact that no one makes this decision easily. It’s generally a tough one. Having looked through the many, many countries from which one can choose and drawing on our expertise, we have drawn up a list of destinations that should be on everyone’s lists. Let me first give you my disclaimer – this list is very wide ranging.

Ireland

An Ireland vacation package is perhaps not the very first thing that springs to mind when someone thinks about a European holiday. Having said that, it is a country full of surprises. You have some serious options on the table when it comes to your trip to Ireland. One of these is to visist the city of Dublin and also take a drive on the small roads between the towns. There’s alot to do. You may want to consider to play a round of golf and go for a pub lunch with a pint of Guinness. The feedback on the local smaller towns are also really good. Generally it’s refered to as being a charming delight worth every second spent.

Greece

We did say that this is diverse! Nobody needs to put a single effort into promoting Greece vacation packages. Lete’s begin at the beginning by looking at its past. Greece is an old country. There are a number of different key cultural an religious events that have played a role here over the centuries. Because of this long history, there are really countless different attractions to visit which are without a doubt worth your time. If this is not really the kind of thing that you are looking for on a trip you will surely fall in love with the islands.

Croatia

This country is to a large extent the undiscovered jewel of the Adriatic. A Croatia holiday package is an interesting combination between life on the island, beautiful inland and city sights. Start your trip from the southern, walled city of Dubrovnik and work your way up via the islands. Whatever you do, please ensure to visit the island of Vis and also take the time for the beautiful inland lakes and waterfalls. The cuisine is brilliants and the wine is a must to taste.

Looking at the opportunities out there, this will be a nice range of countries to consider for your list and will provide you with a different taste and feel from one country to another. You can approach these countries in two main ways. Do them all at once, or have a go at them at different times separately. Nothing short of ‘love’ will describe your feelings here!!

Camden – a Hidden Jewel

November 30th, 2009 — 12:47 pm

Camden is one of London’s hidden jewels. Camden’s borough goes North from Covent Garden and Holborn through Kings Cross and Euston to the fashionable Camden Town area to the verdant and leafy Hampstead quarter.
Camden is well-heeled area there are numerous restaurants and pubs that permit your pooch to join you for a rest.
Camden is located on the old site of Cantelowes manor. The Manor house was acquired through marriage in the 1700s by Sir Charles Pratt a politician and radical lawyer who later became the 1st Earl of Camden. Sir Charles gave leases for over one thousand houses to be built on the land in 1791.
In the early 19th century Regent’s Canal was built through Camden, running through the northern edge of Camden Town. The canal is very well liked with cyclists and dog walkers. During the summer  boat trips are very popular. Right up to the fifties the canal barges were pulled by horses and you can see the deep marks etched by the towropes into the handrails. There are also the canal ramps, not for boats, but to help the horses out of the canal. Macclesfield Bridge is the site where a barge with gunpowder blew up in 1874, London’s largest non war explosion. In the early days until the late 19th century it was not a fashionable area.
Camden Lock is a manually-operated working canal lock. Sited near to it are some great weekend street markets. Camden’s markets are famous and extremely popular, the many markets include Buck Street, Camden canal and Stables market as well as an indoor market – the Electric Ballroom. They sell all types of goods, including, fashion, lifestyle, junk, books, antiques and more bizarre items.
During the last couple of decades entertainment and artistic businesses have moved into the area. Due to the increased wealth in the borough restaurants have gone from strength to strength. One of the first major venues was the Roundhouse, which was a locomotive train engine house constructed in 1847, that had a number of uses until it was converted into a music venue in the 1960s. With a recent re-launch in 2006.
Camden has numerous green areas for great dog walking, Regents Park, Primrose Hill, Kenwood Park, Parliament Hill and the large Hampstead Heath to list the well known ones, so many London dog walkers are based here such as Camden Dog Walking.
The Camden Borough was created in the 1965  by amalgamating the London boroughs of Holborn, St Pancreas and Hampstead.
The borough has an ethnically mixed population and whilst in general wealthy, there are some poorer areas.
Camden was and is the home to many artists, writers and politicians,  that include the writers Charles Dickens, John Keats and Aldous Huxley, the total cross section of political views from the politicians Karl Marx, Benjamin Disraeli, John Maynard Keynes and Frederick Engels. The artist Henry Moore and a bevy of actors and modern rock stars.

One of the oldest public houses in London is  The World’s End  It was formerly known as “The Mother Red Cap” and shortened to “The Red Cap”, it is situated near Camden Town tube station on Camden Road. Worth a look is KOKO previously known as ‘The Camden Palace’ a major rock and dance venue. It was renowned as the location of the famous Goon Show. The Electric Ballroom, is another good live music venue.
Families and dog owners enjoy Camden Square a short distance from Camden Town station with a dog walking area and playground area.
The Sainsbury’s supermarket in Camden Road is very unusual and was designed by Nicholas Grimshaw.
Other places worth a visit include the British Library, British Museum, St Pancreas railway terminal building, Highgate Cemetery, Jewish Museum, the London Zoo, Regents Park, St Michaels Church, St Pancreas Old Church.

The Choice of London UK Hotels For Entertainment Seekers

November 30th, 2009 — 12:47 pm

Eye to Eye - Fundraiser - Underground Restaurant

When you fly into London, the chances are that you’ll arrive at either Heathrow or Gatwick airfield.  Let me tell you two fun facts : Heathrow airport is the most frantic multi-runway airport in the world, while Gatwick is the most hectic single-runway airport in the globe.  Whichever you choose, you’re in for a fascinating time.

Having second thoughts about a London Trip? Don’t be frightened off until I have explained all the good things!

How about this one: London has over twelve thousand restaurants and five thousand pubs.  That’s so many bars that you could go in and drink in a different one every day for fourteen years!  If you ask around, you’ll discover that most of London’s residents are, in truth, trying this out ( no! I am only teasing ). .. and that is not including the secret underground restaurants! See the bottom of this.

Here’s my favourite fact of all : in London Zoo, you can go into a giant monkey cage and actually meet some of the monkeys!  I haven’t spoken to anyone who does not think that’s totally amazing.

So you see, London’s not all Beefeaters and Palace Guards!  There are masses of other stuff happening all the time.

London is a particularly old city all the way back to almost 2k years.  Throughout its long existence, London has developed so much that it is one of the most modern towns.  It is now in competition with Paris as a holiday maker destination.  Being such a widely visited town has led straight to booming of hostels all over London.  London UK hostels are legendary for their hospitality.

London which is found on the bank of river Thames holds a place of great attraction for the visitor.  There are folks visiting this city for just rambling about, others to attend opera shows or theatres and a couple of them come to London just for shopping.  Many visitors are on instructional or business journey.  A major chunk of these visitors are travellers.  With the increase in the number of folks visiting, there has been a steady rise in London hotels.  Folk look for hotel deals London to get the best for the price they’re paying.

There is a very wide network of underground trains which solves a major hurdle i.e.  Commuting, so it’s not relevant wherever you stay you can easily commute from one place to another with the underground network.  There are all types of London UK hostels to fit your budget, your location as well as your each need.

These hotels also offer big discount all over the year.  So it’s going to be best if you might search totally and select the one that suits all your needs.  The discount in hotels in London starts from one star hotels to 5 star hotels.  You can get a good bargain if you do the research properly.

I like to join in with a new cool type of dining with my partner.  It is called ‘Secret Dining’, a hip new trend making its way from Chicago to London.  Fundamentally these underground restaurants offer gourmet dinners at invitation-only parties in exchange for donations. Occasionally the underground restaurants dinners are mixed with salon-type dialogue, art showings or other events.  Cool, exclusive, hip.  All the excitement of running an upscale restaurant without all the health department worries.

Cartoons who love a bit of cheese

November 25th, 2009 — 02:32 pm

Now that you’ve had one of your family days out this year at the recent cheese festival in Cardiff, what famous cartoon characters would you expect to see there if of course they were real people?

Wallace from Wallace and Gromit

Of course everybody knows this loveable British guy. This toon inventor has big ears to match his huge love for cheese. Wensleydale is of course his cheese of choice.Of course the first time we laid eyes on the pair was way back in 1989 in the film A Grand Day Out in which the pair actually travel to the moon as they realise they have run short of the yellow stuff. Gromit, being the smarter of the two would have found it easier to go to the shops but of course he cannot talk being a dog (yet he is very good at being sarcastic).

The laughing cow (yes really)

Simply here because it has become a world wide sensation and is actually the oldest on the list as the original drawing for the product was drawn by the creator of the product in 1924 and was the first cheese product to actually be branded in France.

Jerry from Tom and Jerry

This one is going to be the most famous here and the love for cheese comes from the fact he is a mouse. Surely you know about this one. The tense hatred that a cat and mouse have for eachother is really shown here via Tom and Jerry's never ending battle. Back in the days these cartoons used to contain comic violence but with the way the world is now have since been toned down by quite a lot in recent years.

So if you fancy yourself a bit of cheese why not go to a cheese festival and try a variety of different forms of cheese as well as wines, ciders and beers. UK family holidays can be worked around all kinds of festivals from cheese to music.

Have a Taste of Hollywood on your Lake Tahoe Vacation

November 21st, 2009 — 03:00 am

Brought to you by free auto insurance quotes.

Who would ever have thought that you can have a taste of Hollywood on your Lake Tahoe Vacation?

A lot of big screen films and television shows have been to various filming locations in the majestic Tahoe, and who among Hollywood’s biggest names in tinseltown could resist the beauty of Tahoe.

Indeed, only to name some, the famous Ponderosa Ranch of the TV series Bonanza is actually located on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.

And another bit of film trivia is that the opening sequence of the famed TV series was filmed at the McFaul Creek Meadow with the beautiful Mount Tallac in the background.

In the highly acclaimed motion picture The Godfather Part II, the Corleone family lived in a compound on the shores of the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.

In one of the famous scenes during the final minutes of the film, Fredo Corleone is taken out onto the lake for a fishing trip, on the orders of his brother Michael (Al Pacino) to be executed for treachery, where Michael stands by the shore watching the deed being done.

The house and grounds portrayed in the film are also located on the California side of Lake Tahoe in the summer estate of Henry Kaiser known as Fleur du Lac.

The only structures used in the movie that still remain are the complex of old native stone boathouses with wrought iron gates.

And although Fleur du Lac is private property and no one is allowed ashore there, the boathouses and multi-million dollar condominiums are easily viewed from the lake.

In the film Smoking Aces, most of the scenes were filmed in South Lake Tahoe and Stateline.

Many of the hotels and casinos are visible in the film with their older names. The climactic scenes of the 1987 Charles Bronson film Assassination were filmed around Lake Tahoe.

Top Gear a British TV program on state-of-the-art cars and gadgetry filmed one entire episode at Lake Tahoe sometime this year.

Located between the borders of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe boasts of over 300 days of warm sunshine,  396 inches of annual snowfall, 18 world-class ski and snowboarding resorts, incredible golf courses,  fantastic hotels, casinos and many, many more.

For a relaxing and romantic getaway, one can find many romantic destinations that boast of world-class service, elegant decors and scenery, superb cuisine and a wide array of choices to select from. From five star to first class, standard and deluxe, even economy accommodations, a large number of hotel and motel establishments are more than willing to provide free information about Tahoe and how it could be best enjoyed.

And this is how Lake Tahoe has indeed captivated filmmakers and movie buffs alike.

So now you can also have a teste of Hollywood in your Lake Tahoe Holiday
