Blackpool is a popular seaside resort on the North West coast of England, which is immensely popular with visitors from the nearby towns and cities which include Liverpool, Warrington, Manchester and more. The town is also fantastically popular with tourists from of all over Scotland who often arrive in large numbers in a similar way to the groups of factory workers of old on their works vacation. Occasionally it would appear that the seaside town is nothing but guest house accommodation and entertainments and although there is a great deal of Blackpool bed & breakfast accommodation it is better to book early to be sure. Accommodation varies from the cheerful and cheap to the totally luxurious. You will find many on the sea front and, if you would prefer stay something far less lively there are a few further inland.
Blackpool began to see its first tourists in the eighteenth century who arrived to indulge in the new practice of sea bathing. With the arrival of the railways, in 1846, Blackpool experienced more and more folk arriving to”take the cure” as sea bathing was called then. Nowadays visitors can get to Blackpool by plane, railway or car arriving there much faster than the early Victorian folk who would take up to 2 days from as nearby as Manchester.
About Blackpool Pleasure Beach
The most busy attraction in the town, in Lancashire, England, which attracts roughly 7 million visitors per annum, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The Pleasure Beach is a funfair of extra large proportions with fear inducing big rides, such as Grand National, Valhalla, the Pepsi Max Big One, Ice Blast, Zipper Dipper and Wild Mouse, and including even more food booths, thrill rides, sideshows, games and sidestalls. The latest addition is Infusion, the first ride in the world to feature a coaster of suspended loops wholly over water.
Please remember: If you are traveling as a group or family you can make savings by purchasing a wristband for unlimited rides especially if you will be staying until you have been on nearly every ride as the cost of each ride soon starts to add up.
How To Get To Blackpool And Bed And Breakfast
As mentioned earlier, Blackpool is very easy to get to these days as you are able to travel there by plane, railway or car. Traveling by rail you will, more than likely, be arriving at the main train station in Blackpool, which is Blackpool North on Talbot Road. Not too far away, still on Talbot Road is situated Blackpool National Express Coach Station, the main bus station. The other rail station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, South Promenade, which is better for the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s International Airport is found about 2 miles south of the center of town and was called, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, One of the oldest airports in Great Britain.
Blackpool bed and breakfast accommodation is usually priced reasonably. Rooms are far less expensive out of season and a little more expensive on Saturdays and Sundays. Blackpool hotels are most expensive while the Illuminations are on, which is really the town#s peak season.
Please note: Some B and B’s can be extremely busy and rather noisy especially those near to Central Pier and North Pier. If you require somewhere not so busy try booking somewhere beyond the North Pier.
