Where can I find internships around London?

December 30th, 2009 — 07:34 pm
Dylan asked:

I’m an currently an A Level student and I want to have an internship relataed to business or website/graphics designing. I think there are internship programmes that are done after school or in the weekends. I don’t really need to be paid, and definitely wouldn’t want to be the one to pay for a placement. I just want an experience that I can put in my CV in the future.

Thanks in advance!

Discover the Sinai Desert with cheap Sharm el Sheikh hotels

December 27th, 2009 — 06:33 am

For holidaymakers worldwide, Egypt lives up to expectations as a land of mystery and intrigue. Its stretching desert full of wondrous treasures tempts travellers from right across the globe. The country’s impressive cities such as Cairo and Luxor are a great place to get involved in all the excitement, but for a more relaxing, seaside alternative many people turn to Sharm el Sheikh. From beach to desert, Sharm offers the best of both worlds thanks to its prime coastal position. There are plenty of cheap Sharm el Sheikh hotels on offer to help ensure that it is an affordable experience as well.

The Sharm el Sheikh region is home to one of Egypt’s most significant religious sites. It was near St Catherine’s Monastery in the desert that Moses first saw the burning bush before journeying up Mount Sinai nearby to receive the Ten Commandments. Today’s visitors can follow in the footsteps of Moses, either literally or with the help of a local camel.

Holidaymakers can enjoy an extra injection of culture by booking one of the many day trips or overnight trips available to see the renowned sites of central Egypt, from the Great Temple of Giza in Cairo to the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. These are just some of the wonders to be explored, of course, and when the sightseeing is over visitors can return to the comfort and seaside charm of one of the many Sharm el Sheikh hotels.

Thrill seekers wanting to experience another side to the desert will find plenty of excitement in Sharm el Sheikh. It is easy and cheap to rent a quad bike or a horse for an afternoon of fun. Those wishing for a more authentic and prolonged desert experience can travel by camel through the Sinai’s secret valleys and hidden oases to the nearby and must-see natural features such as Coloured Canyon and, of course, Mount Sinai itself.

Away from the desert, in the heart of Sharm el Sheikh’s resort centre, there are many lively restaurants, cafes, clubs and shops on offer. Most guides and merchants can be talked down in price, and there are many good quality, cheap hotels to be found, from bed and breakfast options to all inclusive Sharm el Sheikh hotels. Sharm is certainly a jewel, but happily it is an affordable one.

Take a Trip to Sydney

December 27th, 2009 — 06:33 am

With stresses in the workplace, stresses from family concerns, and other disastrous distractions in their daily lives, most people want to de-stress and take a well-deserved break!  Unfortunately, giving in to breaks and some recreation could also lead to a bit of stress because taking time off could mean extra expenses.Still, that is not like it–always.

People who want to get away from work can time a well-deserved break when their friends come in for a visit or they could just get on a car and explore their city to find new sites and adventures.  With a few hundred dollars from their cash loan, people can already have a great time with friends.  One great city to roam around in is Sydney, Australia.Like a pilgrimage, thousands and thousands of travelers visit this popular Australian city.  Even Aussies from other places such as Brisbane and even as far as Perth, would find great things to see and experience in Sydney.  Here are some tips for the newbie visitors to Sydney, either from across the Pacific or just across the country, who want to get the best out of their trip.

Sports-minded visitors and local tourists, who want to get bush-whacked at the end of the day, should try Sydney’s awesome water sports!Tourists and travelers who want to learn surfing can go look over the many surfing classes offered along Bondi Beach.Swimming and fishing are good alternatives to surfing.  Water lovers could get their fill of the sea by kayaking along Nielsen Bay.  In Nielsen Bay, they can paddle along some of the expensive coastline in Australia, as they take a look at the local real estate and admire the gorgeous yachts in the harbor.  After kayaking, they a cool drink at kiosks around Neilson Bay Park is recommended.  But, if they want more exciting, extreme-kind of sports to do, they could venture out to the Blue Mountain ranges for some hardcore mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding.

However, if the funds from the fast loans is getting a bit low, first-time tourists can do what Sydney dwellers do and take the ferry for more explorations.By taking a Watsons Bay Ferry ride, travelers can visit the harbor suburb and learn about the small fishing village.  Of course, the place tourists don’t want to miss is the world-famous Sydney Opera House.  So, for those who want to take a break and have a little fun, they could take on Sydney.

Does anyone know of any secret little hotel/bbs in London?

December 24th, 2009 — 02:23 pm
josifeen asked:

I’m hoping to find a little hotel/pub/bb in London for next weekend as although my partner and I would love to go away for the weekend, various things are keeping us in London. However time away from flatmates etc is needed! Am looking for somewhere preferably west-ish, or at least in Zone 2-3, that is on the cheap side (no more than £60 per night per room), and generally lacking in cockroaches and other infestations……

Being a Londoner I’m not in the need for touristy things, just somewhere cheap, clean, cosy and nice for a weekend away from flatmates… Perhaps any fellow Londoners know of somewhere secret and super?

I’ve seen lots of stuff on all the usual booking websites but generally get freaked out by TripAdvisor reviews, haha…

Thoughts and help appreciated…!

Villa Holidays in Mallorca

December 17th, 2009 — 08:13 am

Mallorca is the largest of the four Balearic Islands.  With a much greater population density than near neighbours Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera.  As around 700,000 residents call the island home.  A number which is augmented massively during the key summer season, which runs from May through until September.  When millions of tourists from across Europe descend on the island.

Mallorca’s popularity can be attributed to the fact that it boasts stunning beaches, great scenery and a fantastic climate.  As well as historic towns and cities and a whole host of things to do and see for visitors.

During the 1980´s the island managed to earn a bit of a downmarket image.  Created by the Club 18-30 crowd in resorts such as Magaluf.  But the worst excesses of package tourism are long gone now – although the north of the island is still regarded as a bit more upmarket than the south.  And is where visitors will find the best quality villas in Mallorca – located in and around Pollensa and Alcudia.

Flights to Mallorca from the UK take around 2 hours and 20 minutes and cheap fares are available with all of the leading low cost operators.  Visitors arrive at Palma airport – the sole international terminal on the island.  With the bulk of the best resorts located at least one hours transfer time away.

As well as being home to the islands airport Palma is also the capital and cultural heart of Mallorca.  Boasting fantastic architecture such as the Palma Cathedral.  The first stone for which was laid as long ago as the early 1300´s.  Although work on this edifice has continued virtually non stop ever since.
Most notably when Gaudi took on a restoration project in the early 20th century – only to down tools after 13 years as he was so stung by the local’s criticism of his work.

The island has welcomed a number of very famous guests over the years.  Including Robert Graves, Frederic Chopin, George Sands and Joan Miro.  And is still something of a refuge for artists and creative types.  Especially in and around towns such as Soller and Pollensa.

There are over twenty resorts for visitors to choose from – with British tourists plumping for destinations such as Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa in the north. The latter being the coastal cousin to the former Roman settlement of Pollensa which lies around 8km inland.

The growth of the internet means that increasingly visitors tend to book their own private accommodation, such as holiday villas in Puerto Pollensa direct online.  With prices for a weeks accommodation starting at around £550.

Are you in London and a high heel fanatic?

December 17th, 2009 — 05:50 am
Kirsty S asked:

I have a lot of pairs, ranging from high street (faith/aldo/Kurt Geiger) to designer (Louboutin/choo/Cox) and would love to swap shoes with other people with the same shoe size (8 UK) of course! I don’t mean an indefinite swap, more like, I’d show you all my shoes, and if you ever wanted to borrow a pair for a week, or weekend, or particular occasion, then you could just swing by, or we could meet and swap shoes. ;-) Just thought it would be a nice way of meeting people and doubling my shoe collection!

How much does it cost to visit London?

December 16th, 2009 — 09:07 am
mr_mrs_steen asked:

We are going on vacation from the U.S. to London this summer. We will staying in a hotel somewhere in the city for 5 days, so it’s safe to assume we will be dining out for most, if not all, meals. About how much money can we expect to spend for all 5 of us, 2 adults, 3 children. We don’t have expensive tastes, so we don’t plan on eating at any upscale restaurants. Also do they have fast food chains there, eg. McDonald’s? If we take a bus/taxi somewhere, will we have to lug around our 2 year old’s carseat? Any tips on vacationing in London would be appreciated. Thanks!
